That’s what he said when I told him I wouldn’t be there for his birthday
because I was going into the Priory.
Still gets me. Every time.
I can’t ever tell that story without tearing up.
But the truth is, you can’t do it for someone else, not even for the people
you love more than anything in the world.
No matter how much they mean to you, it must come from YOU.
Sobriety isn’t just a decision, it’s a daily commitment.
